Wrenn Slocum has tried to combine a career in public health with her passion for art. Although often leaving little opportunity for studio time, her work with the CDC has provided both inspiration and the opportunity to study art around the globe. Wrenn has lived in five countries to date, and has enjoyed the challenges and expanded viewpoint those experiences have provided. Her art work fuses those experiences with a love of textiles and a fascination with color. Wrenn’s dyed and printed 2-D works have shown in galleries and juried shows across the country; her art clothing has been shown internationally as part of the Bernina Fashion Show. Most recently, she is creating large mosaic works comprised of thousands of small, hand-dyed silk squares.
